Surf Showstopper {Review} and discount!

This is a product that I was actually REALLY excited to review!
I can't really go running like I used to now with a baby on the way, so I was really debating on whether or not I wanted to keep this for myself for when I DO start working out or give it to my Dad who is already an avid runner. It was a hard decision, because I really like this product... but I decided to give it to my Dad.

What is the product?!?

And he LOVED it!!! Right away he started opening the zippers, fitting it around his wrist, fitting it around his ankle (which didn't work since he has huge calf's), and showing the entire family the amazing gift that I had gotten him. It made me feel good, but was he REALLY that excited or just putting on a show?

The next day, I went back to their house to help watch my niece since my sister just had surgery and my Dad was in the Kitchen so excited. I guess him and my Step mom are going to a town called 'Sisters' this weekend for hiking and biking and he was SO excited to be able to wear the Surf Showstopper. He started showing me where his money goes, where his phone fits, where he's going to put the hotel key, etc. Seriously, he LOVES it... like really loves it! But who could blame him? Here are some great features of the Showstopper:

- Water Repellent outer material protects your valuables from rain or perspiration (GREAT for Oregon!!)
- Towelling material underneath to absorb perspiration while working out;
- Double-lock fastening for extra protection. There is a Velcro strap AND an outer fastener that ensures it can never come undone accidentally. It also makes it a great fit for everyone... this fit me AND my Dad.
- The large pocket is roomy enough for your phone and/or MP3 player
- The hidden inner zip is perfect for cash or a house/car key
- The outer zip provides easy access to things you'll need quickly
- All zips feature a lip to tuck the zipper away so it doesn't dangle or cause annoyances while jogging or walking.

They also have tons of other designs that can make great fashion accessories and gift ideas for women from designer handbags to fashionable wrist bags. (I would have LOVED one during my clubbing days).

Seriously, I thought this would be a great product when I read about it, but it really truly is a GREAT product and it makes the perfect gift idea for for women who love to work out but still look fashionable or for the outdoor enthusiast in your family.

Almost free Nursery decor

I can't even begin to tell you how unbelievably broke I am right now!!
I wish so bad I had unlimited funds to spend on my baby girl, but I don't. And I think with the economy the way it is right now I'm not alone, so I wanted to share some things I did to vamp up her Nursery this weekend for pretty close to FREE and I LOVE the way it turned out!!

For this 'O' they had wood letters on sale at my local craft store 2 for $3. My sister needed one for her Nursery too so luckily, she offered to buy mine :) I bought scrapbook paper for .50 and glued it onto the 'O', tied a ribbon to it, and hung it on the wall. As soon as I find my hot glue gun in all my storage mess (this weekend maybe?) I will glue this really cute pink flower I have to it.

I had these two picture frames in my room but decided the Nursery needed them more. Sorry for the bad pics, I used my camera phone and for some reason my walls look yellow.
Anyway,
All I did for these was find some cute scrapbook paper, .50 each, and put it in the frames.

That's it! An entire wall for $1.50!!

I will post pics of the entire nursery as soon as I hang the curtains this weekend.

This is a little personal...

But being pregnant and single has made me think a lot about my past and the woman that I am and want to become, and about the person that I want to spend my life with. This last month I think I finally know, and I was so happy when I saw this posted on Ashley's Creations. It is a perfect example of what I want in my life and who I want to marry. I've always been second in the life of the men I date... second to his friends, family, hobbies and I don't know why I ever put up with it. This time around, I will be happy to be second to the Lord.

Thank You cards by Simplywheat on Etsy

My friend Megan posted on her Facebook status last week about a fun little pay it forward game where she would send the first 5 people who commented on the status, a handmade gift. The only rule was that if you commented, you in return had to post the same status on you Facebook and send a handmade gift to 5 people. Thus, paying it forward.

She was FAST!! And I was really excited because I know how crafty she is.
Look what was in my mailbox:

Baby Girl Thank You notes! And they're SO cute!!

I just found out that she opened her own Etsy shop, Simplywheat, where she's selling them!

She'll be posting 3 new cards a week and will be updating me, and then I will update you.

Babybond Nursing Cover {Review}

The idea of the Babybond Nursing Cover is to cover Mom, not Baby...

Which is great! It totally does that, and if you are a mom who is worried about not being able to see her baby feed under a blanket or traditional cover, then is great for you! I however, felt a little awkward and I REALLY didn't feel like I was THAT covered up. I even took pictures of myself using this, and was too embarassed to post them.

So I showed my sister and asked her to try it, and she thought the same thing. Awkward. It also doesn't seem like something that would work in public just because you STILL have to wear a shirt that you can pull down... at least if you had a blanket or traditional cover, you could wear what you want and adjust under the blanket. That won't work with the Babybond cover.

Now, Things I liked about the Babybond Nursing cover:

There are a lot of colors and styles to choose from as well as a ton of different sizes to make sure you get the sash that's perfect for you and baby.

It comes with an attachable burp cloth which is REALLY convenient and something that you wouldn't see with a traditional cover.

It allows you to bond with your baby and watch her during feedings

All in all, I would just say that this really depends on your budget after the baby, if you can afford to buy clothes that work with breastfeeding, if you'll be breastfeeding in public, and if you're shy. Honestly, this wasn't a good fit for me, but I know one of my friends who will probably love it! Like with everything, you have to decide what works best for your lifestyle... being a mom is a learning experience.

Outsmarting the Female fat cell - After Pregnancy

I can't even explain in words how excited I was to find this book at the Library over the weekend! I read it seriously in about an hour. As I've mentioned in a few of my previous posts, I've been paying attention to eating plans and work out plans that have been all over TV thanks to everyone's New Years resolutions preparing myself for April, when Olivia will be born.

I couldn't WAIT to put on my running shoes, strap her in her stroller, and get rid of this pregnancy weight! Well, I read this book and it's AMAZING!! I discovered that my expectations were WAY too high. Did you know that it takes your fat cells 6 months to realize that you're not pregnant anymore, and you're not having another child anytime soon?

That means it's pretty much pointless to diet or try to lose weight by exercising.. not that you shouldn't eat right and excercise for your overall health, just don't expect to shed pounds from it. I'm SO glad I read this book... now I know how high to set my expectations and when I can plan on really shedding my pregnancy weight. The first 6 months will be about my baby girl :)

Vaccines and Autism

It's almost time for my Niece to get her vaccines and it's something that's been on my mind for a LOOOOOONG time. I have a friend who has a little girl who's autistic and ever since I heard that vaccines can cause autism I've been afraid for my own kids... not that I would love them less and I LOVE my friends little girl, but it would just be really hard, and if there was a way to prevent it, should I? I also was worried though because kids NEED to be vaccinated... it just seemed like a lose lose situation. And now I'm having a baby too and I've been so worried

Well not to worry!! On the Today show yesterday, there was a segment about linking autism to vaccinations and it turns out that Dr. Wakefield has been considered a fraud and even lost his license in London, AND the US.

You can get the whole story from The Today show HERE.

BEST eating plan I've seen this year!

As I mentioned in a previous post I always watch the Today show while I eat breakfast and get ready for work. Well, on the 3rd... whatever day that was I got bored with whatever they were talking about and switched to another News program and found this AWESOME diet.

I HATE diets!!!!!!! They do not work, and as a daughter and niece of nutritionists I have learned that eating right and exercise is the only way to go. However, sometimes you still need help knowing what is good to eat and it's even easier if you have someone to plan the meals for you and show you what goes together for the best results.

I also HATE cleanses!!!! You should never starve yourself to be skinny and you will double the pounds once you stop the cleanse.

So anyway, I saw this diet food plan when I was watching this News program and loved it. It was SO easy, had a ton of variety, and she even had a 4 day cleanse that jump starts you losing 8 pounds but you EAT!! There are I believe 4 or 5 different things that you eat for those 4 days and she gives you a variety of meals to prepare with those foods.

I couldn't remember which News show I was watching (I didn't pay much attention since I was pregnant but then realized I really want to try this after the baby is born) so I had to email about 4 different stations and I finally found it!!

The book is called Cinch!: Conquer cravings, drop pounds, and lose inches by Cynthia Sass

You can also watch The Early Show segment HERE.

$25 Gilt Credit!!

Gilt is AWESOME!! I've bought from them a lot! And right now if you joing through

Disney Movie Rewards Code

Here's a new 25 point Disney Movie Rewards code:
CHIHUAHUA

Here's to 2010

I've been thinking about doing a New Years post and talking about 2010 and what I learned and then I saw this: It pretty much sums up everything :)

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Moved to a new State
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't make any resolutions in 2009. My resolutions for this year are to speak more kindly of other people and not give into gossip, to save money (how much will be determined after Olivia is born), and to get back into my pre-preggo jeans!!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My little sister gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope
5. What countries did you visit? North America. That is all.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you didn’t have in 2010? A REAL vacation
7. What dates from 2010 will be etched upon your memory, and why? The day I found out my sister was having her baby, the day she had her baby, and the day I found out I was pregnant.
8. What was your biggest achievement of this year? Learning to let other people help me out. I've always been super independent, but a lot of things happened this past year that humbled me and showed me that I can't always do everything by myself and that's okay.
9. What was your biggest failure? Nothing. I learned from every mistake and they made me stronger.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Morning sickness
11. What was the best thing you bought? A tanning pass. (that's the last year I'll be able to say that)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My dad's. This was a REALLY tough year for my family and he always stayed optimistic and made sure that everyone was taken care of. I don't know how I would have gotten through the year without him.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I would rather not share that one.
14. Where did most your money go? Towards bills :(
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My niece and my apartment
16. What song will always remind you of 2010? 'I like it' by Enrique and 'California Girls' by Katy Perry
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
            a. Happier, but in a different way.
            b. Preggoer??
            c. Richer, which is really sad because I'm broke. Haha.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Church going
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Dating stupid guys
20. How did you spend Christmas? With my family, just a nice quiet Christmas.
21. What was your favorite TV program? Pretty Little Liars, and One Tree Hill.
22. What was the best book you read? The last couple books of The Work and The Glory series.
23. What did you want and get? My own place!
24. What did you want and not get? A lot!! Mostly material things like clothes, pedicures, hair colored...
25. What was your favorite film of 2010? The Hangover!
26. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I spent it with my family turning 23! (Oh, and my mom and sister took me to Sex and the City 2.
27. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If I would have made more friends.
28. Who did you miss? I miss all of my friends in Utah, my Grandpa, and my Aunt Charlotte.
29. Who was the best new person you met? My Niece!
30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. Wow, I learned SO much!! I learned a lot about humility, I learned about service and compassion, I learned never to say never, I learned how to be happy with a little bit, and to appreciate my family more. I had a ROUGH 2010 but I wouldn't trade it for the World. I learned SO much and grew a ton as a person. I know I can take on anything 2011 brings.

Is anyone else stressed about flying with an infant?

Maybe it's just my situation because most of my family is in Utah and I'm in Oregon, but the biggest thing I stress about (and it's the smallest thing I SHOULD stress about) is flying with my baby. Olivia is due in April and I'm wanting to take her to Utah in July to introduce her to her family and have her blessed. I keep thinking about where she'll sit, how many bags I can take, whether or not she'll scream the entire time...

Then I found THIS article by Kate at parenting.com and it answered my biggest question about whether or not you should take your carseat with you on the plane, whether or not you should pay for an infant seat, and what to look for in a carseat if you plan on traveling. I would recommend anyone who is planning on traveling with an infant or toddler to read this.

Now I'm off to find help on my other flying fears!

Tandem review

I received a free copy of Tandem on Friday morning from Blogging for Books to review, and finished it on Saturday night! I couldn't put it down. At first, it was a little hard to get into and the main character was SOOOOOO cheesy as was the writing, but after a couple of chapters you could tell the author got comfortable and it was really good.

It's a story about a girl who lives in a small town 'Abbey Hills'  who takes care of her father who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. (I related because of my Grandpa). While she's dealing with that, she's getting an auction together, and dealing with the mysterious murders going on in the small town.

The book has a lot of different characters and you fall in love with all of them. It has a little romance, mystery, suspense, and a huge surprise ending. I would definitely reccomend this one.

The mom of a 'Princess Boy' speaks out

I always watch the Today Show when I'm getting ready for work in the morning and eating my Breakfast and this story was SO interesting!

The mom of a 'Princess Boy' speaks out

Cheryl Kilodavis and her son were on the show speaking about how her 5 year old son likes to wear Princess dresses and her struggle with accepting it. She eventually wrote the book 'My Princess Boy' and found that A LOT of mothers were having the same issue.

I think this book sends out a great message about individuality and accepting people for who they are. With all the bullying and suicides going on, it's so important that people are aware and I think by letting our kids be individuals and accepting them, it will build confidence and they'll be able to handle bullying at school in a different way.
